VW Crafter Camper Van Retrofit – Turning Visions into Reality
In just four days, we meticulously transformed a 2020 VW Crafter camper van into a modern, custom motorhome. Every step of our retrofit process was handled with precision and care, ensuring that each component worked seamlessly.
Process Breakdown:
- Bumper Removal
We began by carefully removing the front bumper, preparing the van for new components while taking every precaution to protect its existing structure. - Custom Wiring Harness Installation
Next, we ran a custom-made wiring harness tailored for the new OEM LED headlights, fog lights, and auto-leveling system. We also installed the auto-leveling feature to enhance the lighting functionality. - New Component Installation
With the wiring in place, we installed the OEM LED headlights and mounted the new fog lights into the bumper, achieving an upgrade that no aftermarket option can match for clarity and performance. - Body Control Module & Steering Wheel Upgrade
After fitting the bumper back on, we installed a pre-ordered Body Control Module (BCM) to manage the added features. We also fitted the customer’s choice of a black Nappa leather multifunction steering wheel, which we had re-trimmed in advance. This upgrade, along with a compatible steering wheel module, supports a heated function for enhanced comfort. - Coding and Final Checks
Finally, we coded all the added hardware to ensure everything functioned perfectly, integrating seamlessly with the van’s system and delivering fault-free performance.
