The Work Involved
We began by installing the customer-supplied VW Discovery head unit, which features factory navigation and Apple CarPlay. We carried out a full diagnostic scan and used our dealership-grade tools (ODIS, VCDS, and VCP) to code the system properly and unlock all supported functions. Maps, voice control, and CarPlay were fully functional by the time the install was complete.
Next came the Golf GTI seats. These were sourced from a Mk7 GTI and selected specifically to match the red-stitched steering wheel we had previously installed. While they might look like a direct swap, the seat rails and wiring presented a few challenges. Custom brackets and some smart adjustments were needed to get everything sitting just right. Once mounted, we made sure the occupancy sensors and seatbelt warnings were fully functional—no warning lights, no errors.
