VW Crafter Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit – No More Cold Hands! 🔥
If you’ve ever driven on a freezing morning, you know the struggle—cold hands on a freezing steering wheel. That’s exactly why this customer from Coventry came to us for a VW Crafter heated steering wheel retrofit. However, this 2021 Crafter wasn’t the easiest to upgrade.
The Challenge: Missing Factory Wiring & Extra Features Needed
Unlike some VW models, the Crafter does not come pre-wired for a heated steering wheel, which means this wasn’t just a simple activation. In this case, the van also didn’t have a multifunction steering wheel, so we had to tackle both jobs at once.
The customer, based in Redditch, also wanted front fog lights activated, so while we were working on the steering wheel retrofit, we made sure to integrate this additional feature as well.
To complete this upgrade, we needed to:
✔️ Install a new dashboard button to control the heated steering
✔️ Add the necessary wiring for the heated function
✔️ Activate the system via VW-specific coding & adaptations
The Solution: Factory-Level Integration & Coding 🪄
With access to VW’s official vehicle data, we carefully traced the wiring, integrated the required components, and coded the system to ensure everything worked exactly like a factory-fitted system. Once completed, the VW Crafter heated steering wheel was fully functional, along with the newly added multifunction controls and fog lights.
Now, this Crafter, which was brought to us from Nuneaton, is fully upgraded, and its driver will never have to deal with freezing hands again. ❄️➡️🔥
