We cut a precise 40mm square into the rear tailgate — exactly where VW places it on factory builds — and installed a genuine OEM camera module. From there, we ran OEM-grade cable routes through the vehicle, connecting it directly to the factory infotainment head unit via the CAN network.

Clean, OEM-Level Finish
Every step here mattered. We removed the number plate, masked the tailgate, and used templates and scribing tools to mark out a perfect square. The cabling was routed using Tesa cloth tape and factory grommets wherever possible. No rattles, no loose ends, and no errors on the dash.
We also completed a full diagnostic scan before and after installation using ODIS and VCDS to ensure zero fault codes were logged. That’s essential when working with CANBUS-equipped vans like the T6.1 — and why proper coding is just as critical as the hardware install itself.
Tested and Properly Coded
Once everything was installed, we coded the control modules to recognise the new camera, which included adaptations for the correct vehicle profile, resolution setting, and parking modes.
