01. Preparation
We always liaise with our customer to supply the best product that is most suited to their needs. In this case a Westfalia detachable towbar with 13 pin vehicle specific electrics were chosen
02. The installation
We started off by removing necessary parts including the bumper and original crash bar to gain access to where the towbar was going to be fitted, we then went ahead and mounted the towbar in place adhering to the correct torque settings for the final tightening of bolts.
The next step for us was the fitting of the 13 pin dedicated wiring kit following the route that would be taken should the towbar have been fitted from factory including pinning into the factory fuse box.
Before reassembling the vehicle we carried out cutting of the rear bumper to accommodate the detachable towbar neck and 13 pin socket this is finished as neatly as possible as we always want the finish to be 100%, we then went ahead and reassembled the vehicle.
We carried out programming of the vehicle ensuring all relevant electronic modules were programmed for the freshly installed towbar and finally we thoroughly tested all functions associated with the towbar from a full check of the tail/trailer lights, charging status and rear parking sensor deactivation with a trailer connected.
03. Results
The final product is an installation that works as close to factory and continues to work reliably for years to come
