We began with the Blackvue DR590X dash cam. It was hardwired cleanly behind the panels, providing full front-facing protection. No trailing wires, just crisp HD footage and parking mode, all tucked into the windscreen trim.
Discreet Control with Multi-Function Buttons
Next came the OEM-style multi-function button retrofit. This small but powerful switch was coded into the van’s system using our diagnostic tools. It gives Peter extra control without cluttering the dashboard — simple, effective, and neat.
Kenwood DMX-8021DABS: Wireless Freedom
The star of the show was the Kenwood DMX-8021DABS head unit. It offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth streaming, and crystal-clear handsfree calling. No built-in sat nav? No problem — Google Maps and Waze do the job better.
Proper Integration with OEM Finish
All wiring was routed using genuine harnesses and Tesa cloth tape for a factory look. Coding was done with VCDS and ODIS, ensuring full system integration. This wasn’t a quick DIY install — it was a proper VAG retrofit built to last.

Now, when Peter starts his van, everything connects instantly — no plugging in required. The dash cam activates with the ignition and keeps watch even when parked. It’s a seamless, modern setup that improves everyday driving.
